YOU MUST HAVE YOUR OWN FENCE TOO

When I was in secondary school, my school did not have a fence round the school apart from the one built in front for the gateman, others areas like the backside and the rest were left open. At that time, it was difficult to restrain the students from going out of the school compound. After the morning assembly, many students would walk out of the school compound, some would go back home, some would go to their friends house, some would go to play, some would come into the school through bush track etc. Many crimes were recorded & reported in our school then. The situation really got out of hand.

To curb all these situations, our principal then (Mr Ekefre) did something! We got to the school one day & found out that, they have used white canvas like paint to draw a line round the school compound. On getting to the assembly ground, the principal came to address us and said, ' We now have a fence in this school. That white line you see is the school fence for now! Once you cross that line when it is not closing time & when not on official errand, it means you have jumped the school fence & that means , you will be dismissed from the school for jumping the school fence...'

From that day, we noticed orderliness in the school. Even during the break time, if you are playing on the school field & your friend is running after you, once you are getting close to the 'school fence', you must make a u-turn lest you are taken as a culprit. Until Mr. Ekefre was transferred from that school, that line was the invisible fence we had at the back and sides of the school and all students respected the 'fence'.

Friends, I sensed many of us need to build our own "fence" by drawing our own line! If your life is too porous, you will end up a disaster. Set up principles, values, rules, regulations for your life that you& everyone around you must respect. There are lines people must not cross in your life. There are lines you too must not cross. Is not everything you must eat. It is not everywhere you must eat! Young lady, you are no more a virgin? That's not a problem. Now, set an imaginary line under you as a new virginity, that, no man passes this 'place' again until my wedding night!

Friends, don't allow negative people in your life. Draw the line! If your life does not have its own 'fence', anything can walk in and out of your life and such porous life is dangerous. Don't be a lose person. Build sexual fence. Be discipline in sexual matters. Build communication fence. It is not every thing you must say. It is not everything you must hear. It is not every song you must sing. It is not every call you must answer. Guard your life, relationship, ministry, family from unnecessary intruders and looseness.

In conclusion: "He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls". (Proverbs 25:28)

My principal built a line fence, I'll build mine, build your own fence too!

The Rise and Fall of AfroBeat

L Like any music genre, is influenced by a multitude of factors including cultural shifts, socio-political dynamics, and changes in artistic trends. Afrobeat, a genre that originated in West Africa in the late 1960s and was popularized by Nigerian musician Fela Kuti, experienced significant growth and international recognition during its peak in the 1970s and 1980s. During this time, Fela Kuti's revolutionary lyrics, infectious rhythms, and fusion of traditional African music with jazz, funk, and highlife elements resonated with audiences around the world. Afrobeat became not only a genre of music but also a symbol of resistance against oppression and a platform for social and political commentary. However, Afrobeat's popularity waned in the following decades due to various factors. One significant factor was Fela Kuti's death in 1997, which marked the end of an era and led to a decline in mainstream attention towards Afrobeat. Additionally, the rise of other music genres a...

A WISE MAN ONCE SAID

1. Don’t call someone more than twice continuously. If they don’t pick up your call, presume they have something important to attend to; 2. Return money that you have borrowed even before the person that borrowed you remember or ask for it. It shows your integrity and character. Same goes with umbrellas, pens and lunch boxes. 3. Never order the expensive dish on the menu when someone is giving you a lunch/dinner. 4. Don’t ask awkward questions like ‘Oh so you aren’t married yet?’ Or ‘Don’t you have kids’ or ‘Why didn’t you buy a house?’ Or why don't you buy a car? For God’s sake it isn’t your problem; 5. Always open the door for the person coming behind you. It doesn’t matter if it is a guy or a girl, senior or junior. You don’t grow small by treating someone well in public; 6. If you take a taxi with a friend and he/she pays now, try paying next time; 7. Respect different shades of opinions. Remember what's 6 to you will appear 9 to someone facing you....

TO ALL MY FRIENDS AND ENEMIES

1. Once upon a time I met a man who told me that telling the truth and making someone cry, is better than telling a lie and making someone smile and happy. 2. He said to me your true friends are those who will never avoid you just because they have met new friends. 3. As he kept on speaking to me, he said If some people do not appreciate and value my presence, I should work hard to make them value and appreciate my absence. 4. He said I must not be angry with anyone who is quiet on me because there must be a reason why they are quiet, and that I will get to know the reason later. 5. He told me it is always better to be a blessing to others at all times than to be a burden at all times. 6. He said I must learn to forgive others not because they deserve it but because I deserve the peace that comes with forgiveness. 7. I must know that everyone deserves a second chance and many more chances if they ask for forgiveness, but I must not loose my guard over their intentions....
